What is a Virtual Race? A virtual race is a race that can be run or walked from any location you choose. You can run, jog, or walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill, at the gym or on the track (or even at another race). You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself using either your Fitbit or any other app of your choice.
You set your very own personal goal and complete your race any time during the scheduled race time. Participant sponsors are asked to donate a minimum of $1 a mile toward their fundraising goal. You can have your friends, family, and coworkers sponsor you as you rack up the miles. Or, you can have your family and friends register and walk with you! We will provide a log to record your steps and your pledges as well as a very cool T-shirt. Individual and corporate sponsors will be recognized in the event program, on our website, and in the foundation’s annual report.
First, second, and third-place finishers will receive prizes provided by the Center for Facial Recovery, Rockville, Maryland. A $25 registration fee includes a -Tshirt and shipping.
Why participate? Proceeds from FACE the Challenge help support the mission of the Foundation for Facial Palsy. We work to advance the treatment of two little-understood conditions that are especially difficult to heal—facial palsy and TMJ disorders—through a three-pronged approach: A) Provide a venue for the exchange of ideas and experiences among healthcare providers regarding these conditions; B) Conduct research on a broad spectrum of facial palsy and TMJ disorder treatments and related subjects; C) Educate providers, patients, and the public about these conditions, their significance, and effective treatment options.
